Australia

From a dream to reality

From the "dreamtime", the beginning of the world for the indigenous population of Australia, to the new millennium: Australia puts human creativity at the centre of its contribution. The pavilion consists of scaffolding covered in translucent material.

This material mirrors the colours and shapes of the continent. At night the walls radiate softly, during the day they permit a glimpse into the pavilion's interior and hint at its motto: "From the boomerang to the bionic ear".

Efficient use of solar energy, the combination of tourism and protection of the environment, and employment of modern communication technologies in order to bridge the continent's vast distances are only a few of the projects presented here. The Olympic Games, taking place in Sydney in September 2000 provide another central theme.
