The train is arriving... at Hall 13. On a 20 by 30 metres screen, the world's largest 'Rail Routes Display', every movement of trains in Germany can be followed in compressed time: One hour is condensed into one minute. Virtual 'telescopes' allow the visitors to view enlargements of individual sections of the railways and recognise train stations. With this 'Rail Routes Display', the Deutsche Bahn AG (German Rail) intends to make vivid the complexity of moving more than 38,000 trains per day according to schedule.

The Deutsche Bahn AG has invested a total of over 3 billion Deutsche Marks into the traffic infrastructure of the Hanover region and new vehicles for EXPO 2000: The new station for the high speed train (ICE) at "Hannover Messe/Laatzen" has been built, Hanover main station is presently undergoing extensive renovation work, and a new urban light railway system for Hanover has been built. For EXPO 2000, the Deutsche Bahn AG will be employing 52 new urban trains and over 40 additional new ICE trains.
